Jigar Mistry received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of technology (IIT), in May 2019. He joined the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC), at McMaster University, as a master’s student in September 2019. Jigar is currently pursuing his M.Sc. in the department of electrical and computer engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Emadi. Jigar has extensive experience in finite element analysis, mechanical designing, and rapid prototyping. His area of research includes power electronics, power electronics thermal management, and traction inverter designing.
Full Profile
Jigar has always been passionate about engineering and science. As a child, he played with Legos to express his creativity and passion for building things. After, he had many opportunities during his undergraduate studies to work on extracurricular projects, such as designing robots for the NASA Robotic Mining Competition (RMC), and various other robots for the Illinois Tech Robotics Club (ITR). He also has industry experience through two internships and a part-time job, during his undergraduate studies, which helped him grow his engineering and technical skills.
Jigar has worked on multiple projects during his M.Sc. studies, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Emadi. He has collaborated with our industry partner Stellantis, to design and prototype multiple traction inverters with an integrated thermal management system. Jigar has also worked on designing high-power test setups that allow motors to be connected in back-to-back configurations, for testing and evaluating various motor and inverter technologies.
