Yasaman Niazi

Ph.D. Student
Research Focus: Electric Machine Control.
Industry Focus: Automotive Electrification; Electrified Traction Systems; Electric Mobility.

Yasaman Niazi received her B.Sc. in electrical engineering in 2015 and her M.Sc. in power systems in 2019, both from Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Iran. In September 2022, she joined McMaster University as a Ph.D. student in electrical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Babak Nahid-Mobarakeh at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC). Yasaman has a strong academic foundation in power electronics and power systems. Her research focuses on developing advanced control methods for electric machine drives—an essential component of modern transportation electrification. She is currently working on flatness-based control of switched reluctance motors, with the goal of improving control performance across the full operating range.
