uriThisuri Harasari Indiketiya is a dedicated electrical engineer with a strong academic foundation. In Fall 2023, she joined McMaster University to pursue her M.A.Sc. in electrical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Berker Bilgin. Her research focuses on the experimental testing and characterization of switched reluctance motors, with a particular emphasis on electric motor design and electromagnetic analysis.

Thisuri Harasari Indiketiya developed an early interest in physics and a strong aptitude for mathematics, inspiring her to pursue a career in engineering. Demonstrating exceptional academic achievement, she ranked among the top performers in Sri Lanka’s highly competitive national university entrance examination on her first attempt. She earned admission to the University of Moratuwa—the country’s leading engineering university—along with a merit scholarship. 

Thisuri completed her Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa in 2018. She also received the award for Best Final-Year Thesis Project and graduated in the top three percent of her class. During her undergraduate studies, she completed internships with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LECO). These experiences provided valuable industry exposure and practical insight into the operation of Sri Lanka’s national power system. 

Driven by a passion for both teaching and research, Thisuri began her academic career in 2018 as a teaching assistant.  She later advanced to a full-time lecturer in electrical engineering. Over the next five years, she taught undergraduate courses in electrical power systems and control at two leading state universities in Sri Lanka. She served as both a course instructor and mentor to engineering students. 

Although she found teaching deeply rewarding, she remained committed to her long-term goal of contributing to the automotive industry. To pursue this ambition, she joined McMaster University in the fall of 2023 to undertake a thesis-based M.A.Sc. in electrical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Berker Bilgin. Her research focuses on the experimental testing and characterization of switched reluctance motors, with particular emphasis on electric motor design and electromagnetic analysis. 

Currently, Thisuri serves as Research Assistant on the McMaster–Stellantis Leadership in Automotive Powertrain (LEAP) project. She contributes to the development of next-generation hybrid-electric powertrain technologies for future vehicles.
