Esi Afariwa Otoo is an M.A.Sc. student in mechanical engineering at McMaster University. She specializes in electrified powertrain design, battery modelling, and energy management systems. As a research assistant at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC), she contributes to several electric vehicle projects. Esi holds a strong foundation in thermo-fluids and energy systems from her undergraduate studies at KNUST in Ghana. She brings experience in MATLAB/Simulink modelling, data analysis, and simulation. Her research interests include sustainable energy innovation and advanced battery technologies.

On April 16th, McMaster University had the honour of welcoming His Excellency Kanji Yamanouchi, Japan’s Ambassador to Canada, along with Mr. Ryutaro Ishii, Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan, and Mr. Yasutsugu Tamura, First Secretary for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
