Batuhan Sirri Yilmaz received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, in 2023. During his undergraduate studies, he worked at Ford Motor Company, GAMAK Motor, and Arcelik, focusing on electric motor design for mobility applications. After graduation, Batuhan joined McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC) at McMaster University as a master’s student under the supervision of Dr. Berker Bilgin. His current research focuses on the design and multi-physics optimization of electric motors.

Batuhan Sirri Yilmaz’s passion for engineering began in his early childhood, marked by an insatiable curiosity and a drive for excellence. This relentless pursuit of knowledge and perfection led him to Istanbul Technical University, where he earned his degree in electrical engineering in 2023.
During his undergraduate years, Batuhan gained practical experience through internships and work placements at prominent companies. He started as a sustainability engineering intern at Ford Motor Company, where he contributed to environmentally friendly initiatives. Subsequently, he interned at GAMAK Motor, the leading electric motor manufacturer in Turkey, where he simulated and analyzed induction motor designs for industrial applications. These experiences solidified his interest in electric motor design.
Batuhan’s most significant professional stint during his undergraduate studies was at Arcelik, a major appliance manufacturer in Turkey. Here, he worked for a year on a team responsible for the design and control of electric motors for an electric motorcycle. His role involved intensive design work and manufacturing processes, culminating in him becoming an expert in motor design.
Upon completing his undergraduate degree, Batuhan commenced his master’s studies at McMaster University, working at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC) under the guidance of Dr. Berker Bilgin. His research is centered on electric motor design and the multi-physics optimization of traction motor applications, aiming to advance the efficiency and performance of electric vehicles.
