Fauzia Khanum

Master's Student

Fauzia Khanum received her bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, from McMaster University, in 2018. She then joined the McMaster Automotive Resource Center (MARC), in September of 2019. She is currently pursuing a Master of Applied Science in electrical engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Emadi. She also collaborates on an industry project with Stellantis, in the field of energy management systems. Her research interests include battery and energy management systems, in electrified vehicles. 

Full Profile

Fauzia took an interest in sustainability and robotics during her undergraduate program. She joined the new, McMaster Sumobot Competition Club, learning all aspects of designing and building small robots. In the following years, she joined the executive team as a competition coordinator, and then became President in 2015. She was able to expand the club to the whole university, and more than double its participation. In her spare time, she volunteers with First Robotics Competition, to help give young students the opportunity to learn robotics. 

Fauzia has worked on many sustainability initiatives as a Sustainability Assistant for McMaster University. In 2016, Fauzia took a 16-month internship as a Technical Support Specialist at Eaton, in the Lighting Division now known as Signify. After graduation, Fauzia joined Fieldpoint Application Services Inc. as a Software Developer, working on full-stack mobile and web development.  She later changed positions to become the Software Consultant, where she led and managed multiple projects. 

Fauzia joined the McMaster Automotive Resource Center (MARC) part-time, in September 2019 and then full-time, in January 2021. She is currently pursuing a Master of Applied Science in electrical engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Emadi. She also collaborates on an industry project with Stellantis, in the field of energy management systems. Her current research area includes battery and energy management systems, in electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
