Nafise Ghorbankhani earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, graduating in January 2021. In September 2022, she began her Master’s studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at McMaster University, under the guidance of Dr. Ali Emadi at the McMaster Automotive Resource Centre (MARC).

During her Master’s program, Nafise has been captivated by the potential of AI and smart transportation systems. From an early age, her passion for mathematics and its real-world applications has driven her academic and professional pursuits. She is deeply committed to supporting minority groups, especially the disabled community, in overcoming the challenges of today’s fast-paced world. This commitment is reflected in her Master’s thesis, which focuses on enhancing the public transportation experience to make it more accessible and user-friendly for all.

Her journey in academia has been complemented by a robust foundation in control systems and control theories, which she explored in her Bachelor’s thesis by developing methods to control the temperature in greenhouses. Building on this foundation, she further enhanced her expertise by delving into the Internet of Things (IoT), focusing on how IoT technologies can be harnessed to optimize processes. Her enthusiasm for learning continues to shape her career, with a keen interest in leadership and management roles.

Outside her academic life, Nafise has been practicing karate for 16 years. She also enjoys working as a fitness trainer, creating videos, and pursuing photography, further showcasing her diverse interests and talents.
