Romulo Vieira earned his B.S. in electrical engineering (with honors) from the Federal University of Paraiba in 2019. He completed an MBA in control and automation applied to residential and automotive environments from the Brazilian Union of Colleges (UniBF) in 2021. He also earned his M.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Paraiba, focusing on power electronics and artificial intelligence. His master’s research involved machine learning, battery management systems, and state of charge and health estimation. Romulo is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at McMaster University. He joined the McMaster Automotive Resource Center (MARC) in 2022. He has extensive experience in machine learning, battery management systems, engine design, and vehicle systems. His main research focuses on cloud-based battery management systems, digital twins, and artificial intelligence in automotive applications. At McMaster, he also collaborates with researchers in energy storage, vehicle modeling, and cloud computing projects.

On April 16th, McMaster University had the honour of welcoming His Excellency Kanji Yamanouchi, Japan’s Ambassador to Canada, along with Mr. Ryutaro Ishii, Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan, and Mr. Yasutsugu Tamura, First Secretary for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
